Feedbackstr at Vietnam Day in Shanghai

When you think of Asia, the first thing that comes to mind is China. That’s how “Vietnam Day”, hosted by the German Chamber of Commerce (AHK – Außenhandelskammer) and the German Association Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME – Bundesverband Materialwirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik e.V.), came to take place in Shanghai.

Vietnam, an opportunity for German businesses

From the 64th floor of one of Shanghai’s numerous skyscrapers, you have a breathtaking view of Shanghai – a view that reaches to the horizon in every direction.

German companies from every industry, who already have a presence on the Asian market and are considering expansion, were invited to Vietnam Day. Unlike the typical options of rapidly growing economies such as Indonesia, the Philippines or Thailand, the Vietnamese economy remains relatively untouched by German companies. Vietnam is very similar to Germany in terms of population and surface area and it is well positioned, strategically in the centre of Asia.

Vietnam is already an integral part of our team

Our team has been working in Vietnam for many years. Since 2006 we have been working together with companies in Vietnam. In 2008 we established our own office there and are therefore able to serve our Asian customers from our office in Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi. We have built up a team of software developers to work on our IT systems. Our teams in Germany and Vietnam work together to develop our products Feedbackstr and Service Quality Suite.

Perhaps that’s why after presentations about the German economy from the AHK’s Peter Kompalla and BME’s Anton Pietsch, I was able to report so much about our experience. How do you find and retain the right employees? What cultural differences should you be aware of? How can you operate most efficiently in Vietnam?

Vietnam opens up new prospects

The decision to venture into business in Vietnam certainly harbours many risks but it also brings to light many new prospects for your company. And a final tip for the next event held by the AHK – no more paper questionnaires please, there are already better options available!
